Seven Crucial Questions for...Jason Mcmahan: Awake the Suffering

FTD Mini Bio

1. From The Dark: What's the current lineup for Awake the Suffering, and where are you all from?

Jason Mcmahan:

Mike Reece (VOX) - Piney Flats Tn
Brian (Fuzz) Gibbs (BASS) - Knoxville Tn
Jeff Millsaps (DRUMS)- Piney Flats Tn
Jason Mcmahan (GUITAR) - Maryville Tn

2. FTD: When did you guys start ATS?

Jason: The band has been around for about 5 years but this line up is 2 years.

3. FTD: Why did you start ATS?

Jason: It was a calling that God had given me. The fire inside my bones just would not go out so I submitted myself to God and let Him take it from there. I have thought of quitting like a lot of bands do but I was not given a white flag to throw in.(laughs)

4. FTD: OK the BIG question! With an album title like "The Doom of Satan" you have us excited! Tell us how it's going, and where the LORD was leading you with a title like that!

Jason: The title was actually not going to be announced for a while but I got excited and could not help but announce it (laughs). ATS is currently working hard with 9 songs to be recorded in March 2010 and will release in April (pending we get these songs down) The titles to the songs really fit the whole concept of "The Doom of Satan". I will release the titles at a later date. God gave me this title during a study on Revelation. I thought for a while about how secular bands bash Christ and how they talk down toward Him so I thought we should let them in on the truth, which is that God wins (laughs).

5. FTD: Do you have a tentative release date for the new record?

Jason: Hopefully in April but the songs are very complex and the time changes are a bit tricky. We finally have a solid line up and these guys know how to play some brutal stuff. Bands always want to progress but I feel like we have completely transfigured as far as our style and writing.

6. FTD: Where can fans pick up your current release "Inside the Mind We Die"?

Jason: Soon on itunes but only at shows and local music stores in our surrounding area at the moment.

7. FTD: If you could encourage your listeners with one statement, what would it be?

Jason: Seek first the kingdom of God. Focus on Him and put Him first in all that you do.
